Ukraine Casinos – Ukraine Hotels Granted Permits for Opening Casinos

Ukraine Casinos

In 2009, legislation was passed in Ukraine for effectively banning all forms of gambling in the country, with the exception of the lottery. According to the bill, all brick-and-mortar gambling parlors and casinos had to be closed down and online gambling was also prohibited. Some operators found a loophole in the law under which they moved their servers outside of the country and continued to serve people through the internet, but an amendment was passed in 2011 that put a stop to this as well. For 11 years, anyone involved in the business of gambling, whether offline or online, could be prosecuted.

However, this long ban came to an end last year and Ukraine became one of the last European countries to regulate gambling. The national parliament of the country called Verkhovna Rada, made the decision of introducing gambling in the country once more and it was undoubtedly a historical event for many with an interest in it. The new bill had initially faced some resistance when it was introduced in 2019 and was rejected in the first go. But, eventually, it was put into effect on August 13th, 2020 and gambling was legalized in Ukraine.

Nonetheless, there are some requirements that have been set forth for gambling operators. There is a criteria to be fulfilled before they are granted appropriate licenses and permits. As per the rules, Ukraine casinos can only be established within a hotel’s premises for now and there are some requirements that hotels have to meet before they can receive a permit for operating a casino within their premises. KRAIL, which is the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lottery, in Ukraine has issued permits to 11 hotels for premises for organizing gambling.

Hotels that have received this permit can now collect a package of documents and send in their application for getting a gambling license. These eleven hotels are spread across different cities of the European country, which means that people in different parts of Ukraine will be able to enjoy some gambling. It should also be noted that there were some hotels that were not granted permits because of some technicalities, including failure to submit the right documents or not meeting the criteria that makes them eligible for opening a casino on their premises.

Some of the hotels that have been issued permits in Ukraine are highlighted below:
